www.ghostdance.co.uk is back up and running

As of this morning it looks like the Ghost Dance site is temporarily out of action.

It looks like the site has gone over its monthly bandwidth allowance with its hosting company – www.easily.co.uk – and will likely be unavailable until either Gary Marx sees it and contacts Easily, or we roll over into October and the allowance is reset.

The problem seems to be down to the site’s Audio and Video downloads sections getting a good hammering…

I’m helping Gary find alternate hosting solutions for the downloadable media.

I thought it was probably worth mentioning that the forum on the March Violets site has been offline for some time, and will probably remain so indefinitely.

To be honest, very few people actually used the forum area, and the overhead of deleting spam and blocking bot accounts was too great to justify me leaving it open.

Anyone desperately wanting to chat about the March Violets is more than welcome to do so over on Heartland

This would be my first post then… Right.

In case you haven’t already gathered, this site will act as a status indicator for all the sites I run… Over time it is my intention that the site will be the first port of call for members and users of these sites, should there be any technical issues with any of them.

It should help keep things a bit more focused for you all and make it easier to find news, should there be any outages or problems.

For anyone who might also check our hosting company’s RSS news feeds, we use the following servers:

File Servers: thisbuds, pirates, spacer
Web Server: pirates
Email Server: homiemail-sub3
MySQL Server: shaggy

If you see any problems mentioned regarding those servers, that will probably be what is effecting Heartland too.

The Ghost Dance site has a totally seperate hosting company, and if they have issues its more often than not related to the site’s bandwidth usage (mainly caused by Mr. Marx’s generosity in providing all those lovely downloads!)
